Happy 30th Anniversary to Microlite - Plus Free Stuff
We are continually privileged to be able to serve the UNIX and Linux marketplace, as we've done since October of 1983.
To commemorate this occasion, we are including a Free Encryption License with every new BackupEDGE BE3REL retail license or BE3RELNP non-profit / charity license purchased from Microlite Corporation or our reseller partners between October 15, 2013 and December 31, 2013. This celebration promotion also includes our newer retail part numbers which include 2, 3, 4, and 5 year Support and Maintenance Subscriptions.
The encryption license (BE3ENC) will be automatically attached with each retail license ordered, and locked in our system to the serial number of the retail license it is delivered with, i.e., it cannot be activated with any other serial number.
Encryption licenses provide extra security as each archive (or portions of an archive) may be encrypted to very high standards. More information on encryption can be found on our web site, https://www.microlite.com. If you chooses not to activate the promotional encryption license, it is not transferable and has no other value. It can, however, be activated on the same retail license it was shipped with at a later date, should you need to enable encryption at some time in the future.
Encryption licenses do not add to the price of Support and Maintenance Subscription extensions and renewals, so this gift will not cost more money in the future, either.
No other action is required on your part; the encryption licenses will be provided with all new retail orders. Although there is no time limit for activation, only orders shipped and invoiced by Microlite or a partner from now until December 31, 2013 will receive the companion encryption license at no charge.

BackupEDGE 03.00.06 - Improvements Since the Last Newsletter
BackupEDGE 03.00.06 is now available and in build 2. It includes additional operating system support and improved USB keyboard support when using legacy-free servers and SharpDrives. It also adds support for some newer Broadcom bnx2 host adapters to RecoverEDGE, and clears a few bug reports. We've also updated the communications and security libraries.

You cannot update to a newer release of BackupEDGE at no charge unless your license is under a current Support and Maintenance Subscription. These subscriptions come with every first-time license activation. They have typically been valid for one year but as we mentioned in our last newsletter, they are now available for up to 5 years, both on original licenses sales and on extensions and renewals. Check with your reseller or with Microlite for additional information. Our on-line Retail Price List now has tabs for sales, extensions and renewals for periods of 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 years.
BackupEDGE does not stop functioning when a Support and Maintenance Subscription expires. The Subscription entitles you to:
- Email and telephone technical support from Microlite Corporation.
- Access to new releases through the BackupEDGE auto-updater and from the Microlite Download Site.
- Product upgrades with fees waived.
- Same-platform and cross-platform upgrades with fees waived for all supported platforms.
